| As the title says, my gas block is canted. I use Troy gas block BUIS as well as a Troy rear sight. The gas block being canted forces me to adjust the windage all the way to one side just to be on paper at 25 yards. I have sent the rifle in twice already and the problem is still not resolved. DPMS is willing to try again...but I am wondering if this is something I can fix myself. In case you're wondering..I know that the gas block is canted by placing a level on the main rail and the rail on the gas block. Maybe this will be good if I can do it myself. I will have learned something. |

Doesn't the GB on those have set screws in the bottom? ... if the barrel was dimpled for those set screws to seat into then it will be very difficult to re-align it and I would suggest sending it back to the manufacturer.
If there isn't any dimples in the barrel then just loosen the screws, tap it in the direction you need then re-tighten the screws. There's a possibility that the gas port was drilled canted to the barrel extension and they had to install the GB canted to align it to the canted gas port ... in that case straightening it out could restrict gas flow and cause malfunctions. If there are no dimples and your able to re-align the GB and the rifle is still functioning properly then I would suggest dimpling the barrel for those set screws to help prevent any canting occurring in the future. |
