| the forward assist on my ar wont push the bolt forward, if i hold the bolt open with the charging handle, it will engage the bcg and not let it come back, but it wont push the carrier forward at all, i tried my friends bcg and same result. Should i change the forward assist assmebly, also with the bcg all the way forward, the plunger bottoms out against the reciever. doesnt stop when it engaes the bcg |
Drive the cross pin (#21) out holding the FA in place,and check to confirm that the pawn spring is in place and the pawn being sprung/working correctly.
Also, the forward assist engages the slot cuts in the carrier, so the carrier has to be forward enough for the pawn to slip into the slots, and the carrier needs to have the corresponding slots as well.
