Colt M4 with no internal mods. Issue I am having is mostly when it is shot in bursts.  Two or three will go off  then nothing.   It's almost as if the trigger is not resetting and I have to cycle the chamber, ejecting a live round.  It will do this on semi as well, but very rarely.  Might have something to do with it, but it will do it more when she's hot.

Approximately how many rounds do you have through the rifle?

Me personally about 3000.  However its a unit rifle passed on so I really have no clue.  Got your PM, and i'm about 3 hours.

Since you said 3000 just for you alone, then it's hard telling how much befor you. Possibly the same if not doubled or trippled. Depending on how long the rifle has been in service.

I wouls think to say that the sear engagement on the trigger has finally worn down enough where you some times may get a double or tripple fire, not all the time though.

Just replace the trigger group and that will fix the problem.  Let me know I have some single stage triggers on my bench.
