will someone explain to me how adjusting the button  in or out can possibly have ANY effect at all on the functioning of a rifle?
i can see where leaving it out would increase  the chance of accidental release, and too tight would make it hard to eject the magazine.
BUT...there are a couple post's in here right now about short stroking and ftf's.
responders advise adjusting the button.
once the mags in and locked, thats it. it doesnt move up or down. its in or not.
to repeat, wtf can adjusting the button do to help a malfunctioning rifle?

The rifle shakes while firing. The magazine shakes while firing. (shake/torque/tweek/ect.)

When the parts shake, the magazine can become slightly misalligned, causing failures. The feed lips of the magazine are not where the bolt carrier needs them to be in order to get the round out of the magazine and presented for feeding into the chamber.

Sometimes the magazine fit to the magazine catch on the rifle is not cut or fitted as it should be. By tightening the magazine catch, you may get the mag catch into the sweet spot for that magazine, allowing it to function well.

There are variations on the measurements between the parts when produced, the tolerances can "stack" and you get a condition where things just dont run 100%. Change the parts or their relationship to eachother and you can get things running again.
