I have a new muzzle brake and am installing it with a new crush washer. It hand tightens to a point where it will take a 3/4 turn to get it to index properly.
Is that to much torque to have to apply?

NO, but before hand , dry fit the break without the washer to double check that the break is not bottoming out before where it needs to be indexed too.
