| alright so i finally got my New RRA ar-15 last thursday. first round and it jams doesn't feed all the way into the chamber and jams. jams so bad that i have to take it to our nearest Gun Smith for removal. He gets it out and tells me that its chambered in 5.56 and wont shoot 223. so i call RRA and they tell me that since its a 5.56 it will shoot 223 all day since 223 is smaller than 5.56. so good news i think. so after work yesterday i take it back out to the range get 140 rounds down range and what do u know it jams again so my rifle is now back down at the Gun smith. any idea would be great. Oh and the first jam was with sellier-bellot and the second was with Federal Premium both 55gr |

Oh and the first jam was with sellier-bellot and the second was with Federal Premium both 55gr What the truth without sugar coating it? You don't have a clue how to clean and lube the platform correctly. Best guess is that you didn't scrub the chamber before firing the rifle the first time, used something like Hoppes half ass on the bore it's self if you did even try to clean it, and even used the wrong lube on the rifle to begin with as well. When the rifle are shipped out, they are greased lightly to prevent rusting as they are sitting in the dealers stock (with a bit of shop debreis in the mix as well), and all of that must be cleaned out before the rig is put into action. Out the gate, the rifle should have been fully cleaned and the chamber solvent cleaned with a chamber brush by hand. Then for lube to break the rifle in, it's upper bearing areas should have been well lubed with CLP. During break in, when the rifle starts to choke, pull the B/C and give it another good coat of fresh CLP inside and out. And if you are going to use a copper solvent like Hoppes, all remnants of it have to be removed from the rifle/chamber/bore. It and powder fouling is bad enough to jam a rifle up quickly, but when you mix it with CLP. it creates a gooey mess that causes jams even faster. Bottom line here, Ar-15 chamber brush for scrubbing the chamber during cleanings, a copper solvent like sweets to clean the bore (does not take a lot of scrubbing to get copper out, plus does not leave behind any residues), and 16oz spray can of BreakfreeCLP to clean and lube everything else. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=7&t=203988 |

our nearest Gun Smith for removal. He gets it out and tells me that its chambered in 5.56 and wont shoot 223
Run away. That so-called gunsmith is clearly clueless if he makes statements like that. If a thorough scrubbing/lube (to include the use of a chamber brush) does not resolve the issue, it needs to go back to the manufacturer. Request that they send a call tag, so that the shipping is billed to them. |
| when i recieved the AR i completely broke it down like i did with my other RRA ar15 needed and scrubed to remove all remains of greese and what not also used CLP. and did everything that i did with my other ar which has 3K rounds now with out a problem. fortunately cleaning fireamrs is one thing i have learned to do. |

Single loaded round in a mag. mag inserted into the well, round charged and fired for effect.
The correct effect is the bolt locking back on the catch. The wrong effect is the bolt only partially coming back, then jamming the spent expanded case back into the chamber. Simply, we need to know if the rifle is stroking correctly or not before we go any farther on advice. |

alright the only problem is that i is getting jammed before firing even takes place. Sorry about that, didn't re-read the whole post and though the problem was on the ejection side. If you can post a photo of the round after the jam, and even check the upper receiver under the barrel feed ramps for signs of low feeding, then would help out a great deal. Also, what brand of mags are you using. If it is low feeding that is bending the case, then could be a bad mag, or even the mag catch no tight enough allowing the mag to forward cant at the strip and the reason that the tips of the bullets are hitting the upper receiver under the ramps. If the rounds are not bent, then let me know and I can narrow that down at as well to the problem. |

didn't think about taking a photo that would have helped but i was unable to remove the round so i had to take it to the gunsmith which i then saw him beat it out making any markings on it well unknown from which incident they came from. and i have been using the standard RRA mags that came with the rifle ill try different mags this weekend and see what happens. |

Don't force it. If it doesn't fit, your chamber is way out of spec and you need to send it to the manufacturer for repair. Call them and they will probably pay shipping. Stay away from local gun plumbers. |
