I have two AR builds. the second of which I installed a new YHM chrome bcg.
It will fire and the bolt appears to cycle but it does not eject the spent case and it does not move far enough to cock the hammer. I tried the bcg in my first bulid and it will fire and cycle, ejecting the fired case, picking up the next round and cocking the hammer but the second round is a light hammer strike. If I cycle the bolt by hand it will fire but every other round is a light hammer strike. Any help would be appreciated. |

You mean failure to fire, or dimple on the primer from the firing pin, which is normal? This is most likely an issue with the path of the gas in your second build. Gas block placement, gas tube alignment, etc. Could also be a buffer/spring issue. Well, not really, if the bolt is only moving a little bit. Probably something to do with the gas block. |

Did you try BCG from first rifle in second rifle? same results? If so second build has gas issues. How is the Young's BCG at falt when it functions normally in build 1?
Light hammer strikes are normal. Think about the movement of the firing pin in the BCG. Think inertia. |

I'm not blaming the cbg but it wont work in my first buildeither. Using the YHM bcg in the first bulid, I insert a mag, rack the bcg, chambering a round, it fires, ejects the spent case, picks up the next round and when I say light hammer strike I mean, when the trigger is pulled I hear a click but the round does not fire. I then cycle it by hand, the very next round will fire. The round I ejected had a shallow dimple from the firing pin and reinstalled in the mag, will fire on the second attempt. The original bcg functions perfectly in my first build The malfunction of the second build is different, not cycling at all. The second build, I believe you are correct about the gas issue. I have a YHM folding front sight/gas block. I've read somewhere here about sealing the edges of the fitting above the gas port with loc-tite. |

First build sounds like it is not all the way into battery and either something is out of spec or the action needs to wear in. Second build sounds like gas leak/not enough gas. Are you lubricating? Yes, Breakfree CLP in general then some Breakfree LP for moving parts. |

Does the standard B/C work/make both rifles run correctly, hence you have confirmed that its the New chrome B/C that is the problem at hand alone.
If so, then is comes down to either a gas leak at the key, the Key being too wide and binding in the upper receiver key slot, the bolt binding in the carrier, or the bolt face out of spec causing the head space to be too tight. If you want to keep it simple, give YHM a call and see that they have to say/ if want to send you a replacement B/C. |

Yes I confirmed the original bolt from the first bulid gives me the exact same problem in build #2. So build #2 has a gas problem, leaking at the gas block. Yet it does not explain the failure to fire when using the chrome bcg in build #1. |

Good info but I'm suspecting this new barrel on bulid #2 has an undersized gas port. Anyone know the proper gas port diameter for a 16" barrel? It's made by Bulldog. |
