I have a 16" carbine equipped with a spikes lower. As of today it has worked flawlessly. I took the stock off yesterday and put on a mako single point sling adapter. Today, when tried to load a round, i noticed the bolt wasnt going all the way into the chamber, so i took the mag out, which was super tight and diddnt wont to come out well, then took the rear takedown pin out to look inside. The buffer detent was hung up and let the buffer slide into the gun, i reset the detent and tried again, and it still pops out.

The detent is now mangled a bit and wont fit back into its designated hole, i have ordered a new one along with the spring, but im thinking i diddnt have the stock all they way to the point were it touches the edge of the detent. My question is why wouldnt the mag release easily? Even with the mag release button pressed, it still was a bitch to get out. With the lower detached from the upper the mag slides in ok, and releases ok.

thanks

Hard to say where the bind is without the rig in hand, but this time when you install the new buffer retaining pin, make sure that the end of the tube almost kisses the center pin of the retainer.

If needed with a carbine extension, you may have to shorten the end of the tube a tad to achieve another tube spin.  If a fixed stock extension, may have to set back the seating collar enough to get the correct alignment as well.
