Well i finally went ahead and ordered one and it arrived today.
Edit: Asked what would cause it not to close then I was able to figure it out. After playing with it and wondering why it wouldn't close it works nicely |

I'll take a stab in the dark, but binding would be my first answer for the not closing problem.
Also a heads up, when running 22lr through a gas ported barrel, lead from the bullet is going to be shaved by the gas port in the bore, and don't fine it strange that in time, that lead does clog the the barrel gas port and FSB gas passage, making the rig a single shot when 223 is once run through it. |
