I sent my sons trigger to a well known trigger man. I was happy with the results until It started doubling. It will also fire (sometimes) when you release the trigger. Any of you have this problem? What should I look for?

I have a Email out to the guy who did the job, I wont release his name if he is able to fix it with out a hassle.

Thanks.

Check to make sure your disconnector spring is in correctly.  The fat end goes down into the trigger.

Re-timing the disco so it retained the hammer longer during the trigger release reset.

With a trigger job done correctly, the trigger should dam near be at rest before the hammer is released from the disco.   Some smiths will adjust the primary hammer and triggers sears, but as stated, if the disco is not also brought back into tune, it's just a nightmare waiting to happen.

P.S. If the smith goes buck wild on the sears, both the hammer and trigger need to be re heat treated/case hardened, or the sear will not hold the edges long at all (read waste of money).

did they file down the little weld spot on the bottom of the trigger ? Was there too much material down there that needed to be taken off ?

I read it as having been meant to be a joke.  Like "Multiple fires with single trigger pull?  Nevermind!  Forget I said anything!"  So not "fixed", but keeping it like it's a dirty little secret.

Damn, you guys are harsh, thought I posted this in GD when I read some of the replys.

No I'm not going to hide my dog, I'm not scared the ABCs are going to kick in my door for a malfunctioning rifle (Guess maybe I should be).

Yes I put the spring in backwards(oops). Changing that did not fix the issue. The guy who did the trigger job guided me through tuning the disconector.   It seems to have worked, I'll give Y'all a range report as soon as I get a chance to shoot it.

It actually isn't Doubling, the trigger is just so short and tight it kinda bumpfires on the release. I'm used to a two stage trigger and pulling up the slack as soon as I fire a shot.

Everyone who sent me IMs rest assure everything is GTG.
