| Completed my new build and went to the range for first time. Having problems with rounds jambing. first round chambers & fires fine but next round jambs about 1/2 way in on angle. complete rifle is dpms except for barrel which is saber defence 18" with mid length gas tube. I do have a spikes tactical buffer if that means anything. also bolt is not locking back when last round is fired. Tried magpul & dpms mags and same problem. Had head space checked by gun smith before I fired it. Any idea what i did wrong would be great. I guess the proper term would be failure to feed problem |

Rifle fully cleaned (including the chamber with a chamber brush), then the upper bearing areas CLP lubed on the wet side for break in.
Note: a good form of CLP is BreakfreeCLP, but be forewarned that any form of clp that is allowed to mix with Hoppes copper solvent will gum up. Therefore, if you are going to used Hoppes to clean the bore, make sure to get all remintes of such out before lubing the rifle (bore should be bone dry when fired). Change the heaver buffer out to a standard weight model for break in. Add a #60 O-Ring around the extractor to add extractor tension until the chamber break in. Ammo of choice for break in is m-193 for the first few mags, then you can cut back to brass case 223 factory ammo after that. As for thinks to check now that you have a few rounds down the pipe. Pull the buffer spring and check for signs of end of coil burs scraping down the inside of the tube. Check the back of the trigger/disco tail for white lines/denting, showing hammer wedging. Confirm that the carrier key is still tight, the key to tube is aligned, and you have correct flow down the tube into the bore of the barrel (read gas block is not misaligned with the barrel port, and you don't have major leaks in that areas as well). |
