I was doing a repair on a AR15 by replacing the bolt carrier with a Colt M-16.  The issue I had was that the bolt assembly would not install into the bolt carrier.  I tried several different bolts with the same results, with and with out gas rings. It appears where the necked down portion of the bolt where the gas tube goes in does not fit the inner diameter of the bolt carrier.  Has anyone had this problem before?

BTW, I posted this also in the armory M-16 thread, sorry if a repeat

That is very strange. I just quite easily slipped a DPMS AR-15 bolt into my "C" marked Colt M-16 carrier without a problem.
