I was going through my spent .223 brass and noticed they all
have a small nick (dent) about 1/16" wide and about 1/2" up
from the base. There is also 2 scratches that line up with the
dent on the neck. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Also is it safe to reload this brass?

Thanx

The brass is fine to reload.

The small dent will get blown back out during fire forming the next time it's shot, and chances are you will have a new dent some where else on the case as well.

If you want to keep the dents from happening in the first place, then install a piece of sticky back Velcro (the cloth side) to the face of the deflector.

Thanks! I thought it was being formed in the chamber when fired.
