My apologies if this si a simple and/or dumb question.

I took my AR to the range last weekend and after about 100-120 rounds the bolt got stuck forward with an expended round in the chamber. I am very new to the AR so I'm kinda lost. I am also on Vicodin after a surgery on Wednesday - which also explains my inability to do an effective "search" for the answer. lol

So the question is: how do I get the bolt unstuck? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull back on the charging handle while hitting the butt on a table.

If that doesn't work take off the upper and run a cleaning rod down the muzzle.

1st ensure that the rifle is on safe and pointed in a safe direction.
2nd unlock and pull down slightly on the charging handle.
3rd from a distance of about 6-10" slam the rifle buttstock on the floor. (concrete works best)
That should work. dont slam it so hard that you break shit. I guess its more of a controlled drop.

Hope this helps.

It's called 'mortaring' the rifle.

It does work and done correctly nothing will break.

Make sure it's unloaded, collapse the stock, grasp the charging handle, in one hand, the forend in the other, raise the rifle about 12" above a hard packed ground.

Smack it hard into the ground.

The idea is that when the rifle hits the ground, that charging handle is still wanting to move back, providing enough inertia to clear the chamber.
