so I thought I had it figured out but guess not!!
if you need to know the parts used let me know, first time i took it out i was running a full auto carrier shot the first 2 shots fine (ppu ammo) then the jamming began it would extract but would do a three point jam if that makes sense about 10-15 more shots it wouldnt even chamber another round but would extract, that was t he frist go-around. alot of thinking and reading round two i changed to the buffer spring and buffer that came with the ubr stock instead of the factory 6 position spring and buffer same shit, went to a semi auto carrier and thought i had it, nope, shot fine for like 5 rounds of black hills then started again, it definetly shoots better with black hills but bolt doesnt catch sometimes and still jams. so i tore it down to check everything it all looks good except the gas port in the barrel. for example when the gas block is lined up with the gas port the gas tube is not in a straight line with the reciever I dont get it the first 6 shots i took today after cleaning and the break down everything worked fine I put 2 rounds in three mags the bolt caught on all three mags then shit started again with the same mags but i did notice that the gas block looked like it moved a little, I marked the barrel wth a pencil where the gas port is. I dont know anything else other getting the clamp type gas block from vltor instead of the set pen one that i have..... sorry for all the confusion just frustrated any help much apperciated |

Sounds like the barrel slipped in the upper when being installed, and needs to be re installed to get the gas port back to TDC (will also align the barrel extension lugs as well.
From there, install the gas block with the barrel as port, and don't forget to loctite the allen bolts to keep them from loosing back up. Also, before tightening the block screws, confirm that the gas tube to key are correctly mating (carrier w/No bolt in the upper receiver), and that you have the block off set from the barrel shoulder if need to correctly align the block to port not only side to side, but front to rear as well. Also, since this does sound like either a gas leak, or hammer wedging, make sure that the key is tight and staked to the carrier (37inlbs), and there is no signs of the hammer tail making hard contact to the back of the trigger/disco (would be a white line/indent on the tail sections). After all the above, load a single round into a mag, insert the mag/charge the round, and fire for effect. The desired effect will be the bolt locking back on the bolt catch. |
