Ive got a Lewis Machine and Tool AR. Over the last few months I have put approximately 3000 rounds through it. I was cleaning it last night and noticed chips on the top lip of the ejection port. Is this normal? I have never seen this on any of my previous AR's or while I was in the military.

That is probably the brass hitting the top as it ejects from the port, kcolg30 says that is normal just as the brass defector getting dinged up from the brass hitting it.  It is just cosmetic and will not affect function.

Shit! I want your job! I can't afford that much ammo and don't have the time to power thru that many rounds if I did.

Minor chips around the ejection port are normal. BSW

Lets see, that last time I reloaded 5.56 (M-193), it ran me under $100 per 1K.
So if he is doing my math in reloads, he only has around $300 of ammo through the gun.

3K, hell I can blaze through that  in a day easly through the full autos.
Plus, if he has a Chrome lined barrel, it isn't even broken in yet.
