I built a AR upper and the rifle is not cycling. Once the round is chambered, you could shoot a round but does not cylce the next round. I would have to manually cycle the next round, effectively making the AR a single shot rifle. Furthermore, the bolt is extreamely hard to cycle manually.
This is not my first time building a complete upper, but the first time I have had problems with one I have completed. Out of the ten I have built, Ithis is first one with problems since the AR is a simple gun to build with the right tools. I built the rifle on one of Denny's /CMT brand new Upper and M-16 Bolt specials, plus a new chrome-lined J&T 16" M-4 Barrel still in the wrapper. I head-spaced it using a Colt 5.56mm guage, and it head-spaced perfectly. I am thinking that the gas tube is pinching on the side of the receiver, or I have a defective gas tube (rifle was never shot before today, and the gas tube was brand new from Brownells). What do you guys thing? Could it be the gas tube or soimething else? Either way I am going to tear down the upper and rebuild it, including head-spacing it again. Any imput would be appreciated. |

Gas tube and gas block start there. Is there a chance you didn't push the gas tube into the block far enough and put the pin in front of the gas tube instead of through it? Is the gas tube upside down? Fixed it. Gas tube was upside down; saw it right away when I removed the handguards. I am so retarded!!
Thanks for the help. |
