I have recently purchased an ar kit and assembled without a hitch.
After firing about 100rds now I have noticed that the bolt catch seems to be showing extreme signs of wear. Also the bolt has not stayed open upon an empty clip a few times and seems to be very hard to push when it does stay open. Please help |
| I have seen this before w/ kit guns. Seems there are quite a few pot-metal bolt catches that wear prematurely. I have one in my box of shame that actually has witness marks from bolt lugs worn into it from lock-back after firing last round. Not to mention quite a few broken hammers inside of which you can see casting marks. Dont know where u got ur parts, recomend u replace with a name brand part from a rep. mfg. |

Same problem here with a Sherluk mktg kit. Also, the bolt catch has a steeper profile than the ine in my BM DCM gun. Is it (the bolt catch) a "slab sided" one w/serrations all the way from top to bottom? Mine was. I replaced it and it helped w/my fail to lock back problem.
Also, I noticed that the buffer spring felt stiff and not very smooth. I wrote it off as being new and needing some break-in. The other day after a range trip, I noticed it feeling really rough, so I popped the buffer out to discover that the roll pin at the rear had worked its way out of one side of the buffer about 1/8" or so and was dragging on the inside of the spring. Replaced it and need to get to the range to try again. hope this helps... |
