I just purchased a Bushmaster AR15. Im putting a Larue 9 in floating handhuard with low profile gas block, What can I do about the two un finished(bare) spots on the barrel where the stock front sight was before I put different sights on ?
Does anyone have a La Rue floating handguard on a Busmaster if so how does it fit

The LaRue low profile gas block covers the two bare spots.

What configuration is the Bushmaster?  Carbine, Dissipator or what?  You could yse some cold bluing to darken up the light areas before you install the new gas block, just in case some exposed area would still show and be exposed to the elements.

I wasn't sure if you had a dissipator that would have a separate front sight and gas block.  The new front sight should cover most of the area when installed.

Cold Blue is a metal bluing that does not require heating of the metal or the chemicals to blue the steel.  There are several companies who make cold bluing compounds.  Birchwood Casey makes some cold bluing compounds that require that you degrease the metal, apply the chemical with a rag, wait a bit and wipe off.  Repeat application and wiping off until the desired level of bluing is acheived, and then oil the metal well to prevent further corosion.
