Noticed yesterday that my DPMS Panther lite 16 is leaving marks on primers when you slam the bolt forward. A few primers looked REAL CLOSE to firing. It is happening using reloads and manufactured ammo. I just bought a 1000 Fed Match primers being they just arrived at the store. Being the way primers have been with supply I jumped on them when I heard they were there. Now, after reading some posts here it seems that the primers I got are not what is recommended for the AR. Anyway, do I have a headspace problem or is the marking normal? If normal are the Fed Match primers I got going to add to the concern of a slam fire situation?
Thanks |

First of all , check to see if anything is preventing free movement of the firing pin ( fouling , dirt , lube , etc. ) .
Is the FP well lubed ? This is going to sound crazy , but is your FP heavier than mil-spec , how ever much that is ? I have read of titanium FP's that are suspose to be lighter than mil-spec ? Is your buffer spring more forceful than mis-spec , slamming the BCG home harder than " normal " ? Do you have another AR rifle to compare this to ? What is the barrel length of your rifle ? God bless Wyr |

Thanks for the replies. I figured it was normal, just never noticed it before. Took it to the Gunsmith and he agreed that it is normal with a free floating FP. Just makes one nervous when you see that it almost fired off a round, at least that is what it looks like. I have heard about those titanium FP's, but have also heard that they will break over time.
New to this site and can see I am gong to enjoy coming here. Lots of info for the picken. Thanks fella's mibo5 |
