I own a 1500 round old rifle. When I shoot wolf 223, there are no jams at all with any size buffer or any type of ar15 mag. But when I shoot any type of 223 brass or 5.56 brass ammo, the case gets stuck in the chamber, and fails to eject, then tries to load a live round in while the empty case is still stuck in the chamber. When I shoot hotter loads like 50 grn hornady 223 vmax and m193s, the case is actually very stuck and will need a rod to poke it out. The 55 grn 223 fmj will FTE and but would be easier to get out w/o a rod. What the heck is going on with my POS rifle? I've checked the extractor and it is very good. Doesn't tear chunks. BC locks back on the last round so there is no short stroking. No gas leaks. I really feel that my chamber is not in specs and is too small for the expansion for fired brass cases. I think that wolf functions fine because the steel case doesn't expand in the chamber walls at all when a shot is fired. What do you guys think that is going on here? What are the specs of a perfect chamber wall like the 223 Wylde?

VERY THOROUGHLY clean the chamber. Wolf ammo has a problem: it burns very dirty, and being steel cased, the ammo doesn't expand like brass ammo does. This means that a significant amount of ash from the burned powder will find its way into the chamber. While you keep firing Wolf ammo, this won't seem to matter; the burned ash tends to make the chamber into the shape of the Wolf brass. But as soon as you switch to other ammo, the new (brass) ammo tries to expand to the size of the chamber (as it is supposed to), but gets stuck on the ash left behind by the Wolf ammo.

Give it a try.

I shoot the brass ammo first everytime I run the gun at the range. The chamber is very clean before I run brass ammo. Always has a FTE issue with brass. After always failing to eject with brass, I then run the wolf ammo, and it runs like a champ. So I think Im going just get rid of this barrel since I dont have the materials to swap barrels  out. I have a feeling its the chamber size being too small for a semi auto 223. Its probably got a chamber size of a 223 in a bolt action rifle (smallest chamber size for 223).
