Nevermind, figured it out.

Hey folks,

I have a pre-ban Colt SP1 with a large pin lower and a small pin upper. I have two different offset screws, one is the standard Colt offset screw and the other is made by DPMS with a larger screw head. Both yield the same problem...

Is there some kind of trick to these things? I install the screw and I can "open" the upper a couple times but then it will be unable to close. It's like the pin is shifting orientation and throwing the position of everything else off. When it's first installed I can still operate the rear takedown pin without difficulty (it's not binding or anything).

Is there a specific rotation of the pin that I can install it in that won't yield this problem, or can I do something to keep the pin from getting out of position, or some combination thereof?

Please, no "buy something else" comments , I live in a ban state and I wanted a pre-ban rifle

Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated

I have the same problem with the offset pin. If you pivot your upper/lower apart, you are almost guaranteed to have the pin not allow you to put them back together without turning it a slight bit with a screwdriver. It's like it binds up and won't allow the receivers to come back together completely. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Does that describe the problem you were having?

Yeah that sums it up. Talked to the shop that sold it to me, it's basically just how it is with a Colt. Take it down? Need a screwdriver. Oh well.
