So I took advantage of the warm weather and hit the range with my new Colt 6920 the last couple days.  I put 522 rounds through her in 2 days.  The only problem I had cropped up on the last mag.  I had shot a mix of LC XM193 (my main stash... just fired a couple mags worth to ensure good function), some Remington Q3131, a little PMC, and a lot of Wolf.  Everything worked great, EXCEPT the last PMAG, which was loaded with Wolf.  Now the FIRST time I used this mag, it was loaded with LC XM193 and functioned 4.0.  But when the wolf was in it, it didn't hold the bolt open on the empty mag.   I had a few rounds left in my range bag (Wolf only sadly), so I did a quick check.  I loaded a cartridge into the PMAG and fired... the bolt closed.  I loaded one into a USGI... bolt open.  Loaded one into another PMAG, bolt open.  One more back in the first PMAG, bolt closed. I want to emphasize that the rifle cycled correctly with a full mag, the bolt just didn't hold open on the empty mag.  The bolt WILL hold open if I hand cycle to an empty mag.  All other mags worked fine. I have another 250 rounds of Wolf I wanna get through the gun to call it good to go, and I think I'll sacrifice another 10 rounds of my stash to ensure good function. I intend to test it more next week.  I'm thinking I have a squirrely PMAG?  I was thinking "short stroke" and trying a lighter buffer, but the good function when cycling and the proper operation with the other 8 mags worth of Wolf seemed to indicate against this.

Any thoughts?

Your not the first to comment on a Pmag not holding the bolt open, nor I feel to be the last.

The last OP's Pmag follower was chewed up a bit, and the problem at hand.  If this is not the case, then see if just pulling the mag down and cleaning it solves the problem.  If still a no go, then might be time to rebuild the mag (new mag spring).

Hmmm....  The mag is brand new. This was its first trip to the range.  I may just pull it apart and lube it and see what that does.  Thanks!

Wolf is underpowered ammo....it short stroked enought on the last round to not engage the bolt hold open.

That is a possibility, that's why I want to test this mag with the XM193.  If the mag holds the bolt open with ammo, I'm not sweating it.  I just use the Wolf for cheap(er) trigger time.  However, I am suspicious.... the phenomenon seems isolated to THAT mag.  The USGI, Lancers and other PMAGS all held the bolt open with Wolf.  But this one fialed to hold the bolt open 3 times in a row with Wolf, while cycling the rounds themselves just fine.  I'll hit the range again Monday and see what it does with some XM193.
