I have an A2 that has never been touched, other than by the factory. I got a chance to shoot another A2 the other day and noticed that my rifle makes a substantial amount of noise when shooting. It is a springy noise that is obviously comming from the buffer tube. Is there anything that can be done to quiet it down without having an adverse affect on the cycling of the BCG.
Thanks in advance

It's normal.

And it'll go away after a while. Although I don't know if it's because things "wear in" and such or if it's because you get used to it. But whichever, it's perfectly normal. Shoot away!

A little light grease on the spring will help also..

if you are attentive you can tell when you shoot the last round. the spring will make a different noise when the bolt is locked back in place.

Some people say the flat wire chrome silicon springs that Tubb sells make your gun less sproingy. I haven't tried it, but it sounds plausible.

+1 to the "it's normal, but you can lightly grease it" notion.

I'm more worried about my shoes squeaking than my gun making springy noises.  If they hear my rifle's buffer spring, it's already too late.

At work when I shoot I wear some hard earcup hearing protection. When I use the dot sight mounted on my fixed carry  handle, the bottom of right ear cup rests against the cheekweld riser that I added to the telestock and boy you can hear that spring twanging!

I got some lubriplate 130-A grease (same stuff I use on my M1)  and glop it on the springs and buffer on all my ARs. Makes it pretty quiet.
