Brand new rifle no ejection. Lower is factory assembled RRA with standard trigger. Upper is Custom from shop in Ohio. 556 Nato 16" heavy barrel car length gas tube, single rail gas block, Flat top upper, standard bolt and carrier. no markings on any of the upper parts. C products 30 rd mag

This is the first new AR I have owned in 20 years, so I am a little rusty. I oiled the carrier and bolt, cycled the action (approx 200 times) and went to the range to sight it in. Federal 55 grain FMG .223. First shot spent case still in chamber, second round jammed into the back of it. Pulled out round and tapped spent round with cleaning rod (not very tight). Put the clip back in and fired round 2. Same result except new round now has bullet pushed back to flush with the front of the brass. Removed unfired round and clip and cycled the action. The bolt did not remove the spent casing. Used the rod again to remove round. Removed bolt from carrier and pulled extractor and cleaned and oiled complete assembly reassembled and oiled upper and carrier. This time one round in clip. Fired chamber locked open casing still in barrel. I don't know what else to do. I am able to push a round into the front of the bolt and the extractor arm catches it lightly. I can not hand cycle and get it to extract any rounds. I have tried about 30 rounds (Federal, Fiocchi, and Winchester) none will eject with hand cycling.

Please Help. I tried to give you the most info I can.

The extractor apparently is not gripping the case, as I understand it, if you chamber a round and do not fire it, the round still cannot be withdrawn?

Have you removed the extractor and seen that there is not debris behind it?  There is also a possibility that the extractor is out of spec and not gripping the rim sufficiently.  There should be tension if you place a case against the boltface from the ejector, and it should be capable of throwing the case.

You understand correctly. No round has been withdrawn from the chamber by the bolt, fired or unfired. I completely disassembled the bolt, all the way and cleaned and oiled the extractor arm and recess and the ejector pin. it had no effect. I tried a wood block in the upper and pushed the bolt and carrier into an empty casing and it would not grip the round. Is replacing the extractor arm the best option?

If it's not able to extract unfired rounds, there's a good chance the chamber wasn't properly cut.

Changed bolts and it works fine, I am ordering a new extractor and spring.
