Sorry, I've been searching for awhile now and can't seem to find the answer.  I'm trying to remove the flash suppressor off my MP15 and can't get it to budge.  I've heated it, used break free, etc. and nothing.  They aren't reverse threaded are they? any help would be much appreciated

righty tighty lefty loosey.

make sure the barrel is held securely in your barrel vice blocks. you do have those, right?

get yourself a good wrench, and it should come off with some effort.

yeah I've got a block and a good ar15 wrench but this thing isnt moving.  All this effort on this thing has got it scratched up pretty good so I'll have to pick up a new one anyway.  I might let it soak for an hour or two with some break free and see if that does the trick.   Now I'll see if I can get the gas tube off the original gas block which seems to be stuck and before someone asks,  the roll pin has been removed.

Are you sure you are going the right way?  Can you tell if it has a crush washer?  Can you post a pic?  Damn thing should come off w/o a whole bunch of effort...

Get a 4 foot long pipe, slip it over the handle of your wrench.  Then start putting your weight on it, assuming you weigh more than 150 lbs, it should eventually come loose.  You might need someone to sit on your workbench while doing this, depending on how heavy your bench is.

Don't be surprised by the amount of torque needed.  The carbon fouling between the FH and barrel can really weld them on there.

FYI: if the FS in on a 14.5" barrel, its permanently installed and will take more than a wrench to remove without destroying the barrel.

As is it a FS you are trying to remove, or a Brake that was permanently installed as well ( installed during the ban period)?

If it was perm. installed - look real close and you should be able to see the impression from where they peened the hole. It's tough, but you can drill it through the original hole without damaging the threads on the barrel.
