Somewhere I read a thread that had black inserts from Brownells in a package set. I can't find the link and I can't find them in Brownells. Anyone know?

FYI: The black insert is just a marker first used by Colt to identify the difference between a standard extractor spring, and that of the stronger tensioned unit used in the M-4.  There is no tension difference between the color inserts, just the spring it is supposed to represent.

The black insert has carried over to other manufactures, and in most cases, identifies that the spring is in fact stronger than a standard unit.

As for the strongest extractor tension spring out there, I have to give a nod to the Wolf extra tension spring.  It's a beast all by it's self, and does not have to rely on any other tensioning devices to get the job done.   It's so strong in fact, that in some cases, the extractor will bend the rim of the round since the extractor is too tensioned to allow it to openly cleanly at loading (extractor open up cleanly to slip over the rim during loading).

Thanks for the information. I didn't know about the inserts. I just order the set from Bravo. I'm sure it will be better than the standard set up I have.
