I have a old Carbon-15 rifle. I like it so far. But not thrilled with the funky stock it has and that it uses a pistol length buffer tube assembly. So I got a full length tube, and a Enidine buffer, along with a Ultra-Light stock, only to discover, the threads aren't cut deeply enough into the receiver. So the tube starts to go in, it's the right threads per inch and diameter, it's just that the grooves themselves were cut shallower that normal. Probably to grip the soft buffer tube it came with.

So my question is, does anyone know what the thread specs are on a standard AR-15 buffer tube, and where I can get or rent a threading tool?

Haha. I just happened to find the answer THIS TIME (have looked in past and came up empty).

It's (1 3/16"x16) thread

I dunno if its a good idea to re-thread that receiver. Is that receiver aluminum or that carbon-fiber plastic material? It may have been cut short for a reason. I'd call bushmaster and check with them before cutting. They may be able to do it for you.
