Hello All:

I just assembled an RRA 20" upper to a CMMG stripped lower using RRA's 2 stage trigger and their lower parts kit.  It's my first AR and I have a question.  I shot 60 rounds ofPrivi Partisan milsurp on Tuesday night with no issues but for one.  Off the bench the rifle cycled  fine, but when I shot offhand there was a delay before the bolt would go forward.

What I found when I cleaned, lubed and reassembled it is when I pull the charging handle back with the trigger depressed I get the same delay.  As soon as I begin to relieve the pressure on the trigger the bolt goes forward.  Without my finger on the trigger it cycles normally, sendint the bolt home immediately.  This happens with or without the magazine in place.

Might this be a new parts issue that will wear in or should I get in touch with RRA?  Would it be trigger related perhaps?

Thanks

You have hammer wedging (hammer wedging between the bottom of the carrier and the FCG lower parts.

Check the back of the hammer at the disco hook section, and the tail section to see where the hammer is binding up on the FCG parts.  If you find that the tail is too long and wedging  on the back of the trigger, then you can remove about .040 off the tail to solve the problem.  If you find that the hammer is wedging on the top of the disco (at the hook), then .040 angled rolled off the top of the firing pin contact pad area will solve the problem.

Also to note, there is always the option of just getting replacement parts to correct the problem. Could be the FCG or receiver, so you would need to talk to both manufactures to see where the problem lies.

Thanks for the reply Dano523.  I'll disassemble it this weekend and have a good close look at the hammer.  I do have the original hammer that came with the lower kit, so I'll install it as well.  I should have thought of this sooner.

Thanks again, I'll post my findings.

The stock FCG, although gritty, works well.  I posted my original post to the RockRiver Industry forum; now I'll post with my findings to see if they recommend I return the 2 stage trigger.

Thanks!
