Gents, one (of two) front sight taper pins on my AR-10 has gone missing. Can I replace the missing taper pin with a roll pin of the correct size (about 1/8"X3/4")? Anything negative about doing this that I dont understand ? Thank you. |

The roll spring will work for short term, but you want to install a taper pin back in place for the long run. The roll pin will not take the abuse that a solid pin will (read FSB taking a hit and not shifting index on the barrel). Now I do find it strange that one would just fall out, But Armalite will cover it under warranty (as long as it was not the end result of you driving the missing one out large taper end out the small taper end of the FSB and the pin was now too small to work). |

Well, emailed Armalite on Monday. They responded on Weds that they were shipping a new taper pin to me under warrenty. Pin arrived today (Friday). Just replaced pin. Done. Thank you, Armalite! Excellent customer service. Of interest, I did find the old taper pin under the rug. It had apparently come out when I took the gun out of the safe. |
