I hope this is the right place. I have an A2 buffer tube (it has 4 threads). The 4th thread appears to have a ding in it. I would post a picture but, I have not removed it from the plastic yet. Should I be concerned? It is about 1/8 of an inch long and appears very slight, but I am unable to determine if it is a paint ding or if the metal has been dented in. I am probably over scrutinizing this, but I really don't know about threading. Thank you for any help.

Will the receiver extension thread into the receiver by hand without binding (read there is some slop between the two)? If so, then the thread ding is not the end of world.

If the tube threads do bind up when threading the tube into the receiver, then chances are you want either to chase the tube threads with die or use a needle triangle file if the area damage area is only minuet.

I ended up just opening it. The thread damage was very slight and I was able to find and remove a small sliver of metal. I then screwed it in and there was no binding, so I am happy with the results. Thanks for the info.
