Hi Folks

I have a SP1 large hole upper I wanted to mate with a small hole Sporter lower. I bought the bushing for the large hole upper which goes in very loose and from what i read should go in tightly and leads me to believe the hole on the upper was drilled out some. I can put the upper on the lower but it is a very loose fit. There is also about a 1/16" or slightly larger gap between the two receivers. Is there any way to salvage this upper or am I sol.

Thanks

1/16" is a big gap. Are you sure it's that big?  Try using a business card. If that does not go , the gap is less than .010". A credit card is around .030".

1/16" is .0625" .

Anyhow, does the rear takedown pin go home? have you considered having a bushing made to the current hole's dimensions?

Pictures would definitely help.

I don't have a camera tonight, but here is a link to what the gap looks like. The only difference is the gap is uniform all the way across from front to back. the pins line up and go in on both sides, but the receivers are very loose and wobbly. I bought one of the bushings you are supposed to use to mate a large hole upper to a small hole lower but it fits in the hole very loose and will fall throughthe other side unless you have your finger underneath the hole. My gap might not be quite as wide as the one in the pic but it is close.

Okay, need manufacturers. That is way too big a gap, if it is anything like the image you referred to. I doubt the bolt carrier would clear the buffer tube.

it is a colt marked SP1 upper and I am trying to put it on a Preban Colt Sporter Match HB lower The lower does have the block in it. You can see a lot of magazine through the side like in that pic. Whats weird is the pins go in. The SP1 upper does not appear to have any material taken off the lower edges.
