| Bear in mind the qualifier in the subject (newbie) before ragging on me too hard, but, I'm having trouble removing the selector to install an ambi selector on an RRA lower. According to everything I could find, it should just push out. Is there a trick or any good advice on getting the single sided unit out? As this is my first build, I don't want to apply too much force and mess something up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

There are two ways, with the first the safer way. Remove the pistol grip screw and pull the grip off. When you pull the grip, watch for the selector spring in the handle, and the detent pin just above it in the receiver (ejection side of the rifle). When you reinstall the grip, make sure not to kink the spring as it recompresses back into the grip channel. Note: Don't loose the selector detent since it will fall out of the channel as some point as you are handling the rifle without the grip in place. Second option, with thumb pressure (do not use a punch, nor hammer) on the ejection side of the selector; turn the selector to safe and back to fire. Somewhere in between the two positions, the selector is going to ride out of the selector groove (the shallowest part) and the selector will push out the receiver. Note: the selector detent pin is stepped, so it will not shoot up out of the selector hole when the selector is removed. ![]() http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/ |
One of the little glitches with turning the selector to the safe position is that the hammer has to be cocked before the selector will turn to it. I kind of figured that he would discover this through trial and error. |
