Well after 20 minutes of trying to hammer out the retaining pins for the FSB I broke out the drill and wile drilling out the pins I nicked the out side of the barrel. It didn't penetrate inside.  Is the barrel ok?
Also I had to use a hammer to get the FSB off the barrel. Well come to find out the new one I have wont fit how do I get it on? It’s the regular slip on type

The barrel will have around 50K of bore pressure when a round is fired, so you make the call on if you thinned the barrel wall area down when you nicked it too much or not.

Is there lock tight on the threads of the barrel nut?

FSB installs typically involve drilling a hole that kerfs the edge of the barrel

the pins unitize the 2 parts

Why is this line of questioning just screaming Bushmaster rifle????

What brand of rifle?  If Bushmaster, no loctite, but you will need to man-up to get the barrel nut loose from the upper receiver.

Its a dpms and I have put it in the action block, trying to take the nut off to replace the barrel but its not breaking free.

The factory DPMS units are not loctited.

I have got the nut off and placed the net barrel on, the barrel nut teeth are a little worn down will that make a difference? I know I can snug it up to 80lbs
