Has the rifle been cleaned and lubed correctly (CLP) before being fired (read the chamber scrubbed with a chamber brush by hand, and any copper solvent completely removed from the bore/chamber and left in a dry state)?

The rifle/barrel is packed with assembley grease (maybe even a little shop floor/bench grit), and was the problem at hand.

Check out the link I posted, and do a detail cleaning on the weapon, including pulling the buffer and recoil spring to clean and CLP the receiver extension parts as well.
