What is the best way to remove the gas block pin?

Also how much force is needed to remove it?

Thanks

You’ll want a good solid surface to work on, nothing flimsy like the kitchen table. I use a nail set to knock the pin loose, then follow up with a standard pin punch. The concave tip of the pin punch works perfect on the FSB pins. It keeps you from slipping off and keeps the pin from deforming. Installation is done in the reverse using the nail set last to set the pins in place.

Thanks I found a link that said use a 5/64 dril bit as punch if you don't have one and it worked like a charm!

Just a reminder, the taper pins are tapered.

You want to drive the small end in, and the large end out.

I’ve encountered FSB pins in the past that were pretty well set. A drill bit would not have worked. Also, drill bits are very brittle and not meant to be used as punches. Be VERY careful if using one in this manner. They can shatter and possibly cause serious eye damage.
