Ive got a riflethat i kinda pieced together for basically a brush gun. The other day i was going to test fire the gun for the first time and when i pulled the trigger, all it did was "click" almost like a dry fire but there was a round in the chamber. I ejected the round and cycled a new one in and same thing happened. I was in a hurry so i didnt have time to check anything before i put it away. What are some possible causes that i can look for when i take it apart tonight. Thanks |
| Without more info from you taking it apart and inspecting it, it might be hard to diagnose the problem. Off the top of the head, check that your firing pin, cam pin, or FP retainer arent broken and make sure the bolt is going all the way into battery. What kind of carrier are you using? |
| I dont know the manufacturer of the upper assembly, i bought it used. I mated it to a used cav-15 mkII lower with about 100 rds on it. Im just looking for some ideas so when i get home i have a few things to check rather than not knowing where to start. Thanks alot for any help. |

Another possible issue is a broken hammer spring. Occasionally one of the legs will break, giving you only 50% hammer striking power, leaving a dent (though shallow) in the primer. Another possibility is that the firing pin was not fully inserted before inserting the firing pin retainer pin. They both happen, though the second one tends to make you feel a bit dumber. |

If I +1 this, am I +.5 for myself and +.5 for Dano? Guess I have to play it safe here. +2 (We'll split it.) |
You get all the credit for it cause we both know that you were thinking it, but it just didn't show up the first time around when you hit the sumbit button. |
