[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Stuck Case Removal

I posted this in the AR-Discussions forum, but no reponses, so I didn't know if this forum would be more appropriate.

I have a couple of questions concerning the stuck (separated case) removal tools you see for sale.

Are these useful? I have never had an issue, but if it happens I could imagine it would be difficult to clear.

Do they actually work?

Are they all the same? Brownells sells a version for nearly $20. CDNN and others sell them for $4 or $5. Is the $4 version equally functional as the $20 version?

My Otis cleaning kit worked fine to get the one seperated case I ever had out. I just snaked it in from the bore and the case came right out with the patch.

I bought a CDNN one on a whim after 19yrs & 12k+ rounds. Needed it the very next outing.
