Did the mag perhaps come loose after each shot? If so look at the button and see if the screw/bolt is about 1/8"-3/16" recessed from the button face. If not adjust it accordingly. Just had this happen with a buddies AR Sunday. Mag popped loose with each shot and would not feed.

Sounds like the same problem, I was able to get a round or two out each time, but it seemed like the mag just slid down a little after the shot and it couldn't feed. Just to make sure I am looking at the same thing, when I pop the mag in the well, on the left hand side, the bolt or piece that holds the mag in place is recessed, just as it is when there is no mag. Is this what you are referring too, or are you saying on the release button side?  I will take a pic tonight and post so all can see what I am seeing on the left side.  Thanks for the help.

I had a problem with a c-products 20 rd mag over the holiday. The first time I shot it the  magpul follower got stuck halfway down. rounds didn't feed,Not wanting to send it back I took out the follower and shaved the areas that was rubbing, all was well ,I thought.Took it out again and 3 shots, all is fine, then next round  gets stuck on the front part of the mag not feedramps,I thought WTF, took mag out, took round out, chambered next round from boltstop feeds fine, next round no feed, took out mag cursed, took remaining rounds put in other 20 rounder and no problems. All the rounds got stuck on the front lip of the mag,not sure the cause but since all other nags fed fine has to be a bad mag,so yea even good products can have a few lemons.

When it comes to USA mags 2 Latin words come to mind "Caveat Emptor". And I sure don't see the price advantage with Tapco

One more with the mag out of the receiver.  I want to see just how deep the catch will retract back into the receiver.

Also, make sure that the threads of the catch are flush with the face of the mag release button.

I think I would try backing the mag catch out 1 maybe 2 turns. Try 1 turn first and see if it helps.

Ok, what is the best way to do that?

Push in the mag release button as far as you can. My have to use the tip of your finger to do it. Rotate the mag release arm CCW one full turn till it lines back up with the slot and release button. Be sure mag still locks up securely. Adjust as necessary. I would try 1 turn first then 2 if necessary. Much beyond that and it may compound problem if that is what is causing it.

Thanks, going to the range Sun or Mon, will provide an update.  Got some more Mags today from CMMG so maybe I will see improvement.  Thanks again for all the help and update will be forthcoming.

I think what he said about tightening the mag catch is right, but what I do with new mags also seems to help with reliability and feeding. I take them apart, clean with a dry rag, lightly oil spring, relace old follower with magpull gen 2 followers, and sand down any sharp lips on the front of the mag(this is where some cases tend to get caught if its to sharp). Remember that just bcuz its new doesnt mean it doesnt need a little refinishing. By far the best mags I have are Old Colt 20 rnders with the dull alloy followers.

I am wondering...is it possible to have the mag catch screwed in so far that it impedes the movement of rounds in the magazine?  If the catch could protrude that far, then a rising round could jolt the catch outward, letting the magazine slip out of place....  As posted above, having the threaded section slightly recessed in the button, by about 1/16 - 1/8" seems about right.

That is pretty much what happens. The mag will be secure in the magwell and after each shot it will be loose. Probably won't drop because it will have enough tension to just keep it in place by catching on the hump in the mag. However the rds will not feed properly or not at all.

It just happened last weekend on a build I helped a buddy do. Put mag in, charge rifle, fire, eject but wouldn't pick up round. Mag would be loose in magwell. Backed out the mag catch and problem solved. His mag catch had gotten screwed in to the point that the screw projected from the button a little bit. I don't know if he did it or if someone else did. The lower was already together when he brought it over.

Got the last pieces for X-mas for my 1st AR15.  Took it out today, with a 30 round C-products mag.  I had all kinds of problems with feeding and cycling. I thought maybe it was the mag, but reading reviews here, C-product Mags seem pretty solid.  Rifle is a CMT/Stag everything with a RRA 2-stage trigger, left handed config. and until Friday only the 1 mag, (got some from CMMG coming)  Only way I could get it to work consistently was to use my right hand and support the rifle at the mag/mag well and  that seemed to make the difference.  Mag and all weapon components were brand new.  Was using Remington 55 gr.  Any ideas/thoughts?  Could it be just a "bad" mag?Again I am a newbie so all help is appreciated.

I am having the same issue with my 2 C-Products mags (6.8 spc) the rounds are getting stuck on the feed ramps unless I use my free hand to push the bottom of the mag forward (tilting the nose of the bullet upwards). I have tried to tighten my mag catch but I have not tried to loosen it. I will try that next. Let me know how the mags do from CMMG. i have not tried other mags in it yet.

Went out to the range today, used both the C-products and new CMMG mags that came, and had no problems, no misfeeds or errors, so apparently adjusting the mag release as instructed worked. Thanks again for the help.  This place rocks, I am going to need a 2nd job to pay for my hobby at this rate.

Chillstone-once I fixed the release, I didn't experience a difference between the mags.  Both had Magpul Gen2 followers, only difference beyond that I can tell is the finish.  CMMG cost more than C-products through the EE, I will probably be ordering more of those since I don't see a difference, others may disagree, but I am no expert.

Glad that the minor adjustment fixed your problem. It is real nice when things function as they are supposed to function. C-Products mags are good mags with a good price. I have a couple and they have been great. Waiting on a bunch from the group buy to arrive.
