Ok, i bought about 20 used mags and wanted to cycle test them so i brought 5 to the range today. and replace the black followers with green ones, loaded them up and started shooting. after the first round i had a ftf where the round tip actually got stuck on the bottom of the feed ramp. So I tried 3 more and they all had the same problembut i noticed when i pushed the bottom of the mag forward, they fed fine. I have not had this problem with new 20 round mags on the same rifle, just these used mixed manufacturer used ones.  My question, Is there something i can do to these used mags that will not allow them to rock back in the magwell and cause ftf's.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you need to break in the followers, either through using a ruler (20 time all the way pressed down, then allowed the follower to snap back up on it's own, followed by cleaning the mag), or to de-bur the new follower skirts by hand.  Following this, you need to perform a mag function test.  This is achieved by loading only three rounds into the mag, shoving the rear rim section of the round way down, then letting the pressure off the back of the round and letting it move back up on it’s own to confirm that the top round’s full body is settling all the way back up against the feed lips.

If the mag fails the test (back/all of the round not against the feed lips tightly), then you will either need to replace the mag spring if it is questionable regarding it's tension strength (weak spring), or tweak the top coil if the mag spring is new (or you just want to get a little more life out of a older spring).
