I am a newbie. Have a adjustable butt stock on my Bushmaster.  Want to replace it w/a Magpul.  What is the correct way to remove org. stock & apply new one?

Do you have an adjustable, or telescoping (as in carbine) on the rifle now (need to know which one it is), and what Magpul model stock are you going to change over to?

P.S. Welcome to the site!!!

Telescoping.  The Magpul model is a Model CTR Carbine stock

I was surprised on my Bushmaster that the tube was not mil-spec; take this into consideration when you buy a stock that may be mil-spec.  Would suggest getting a kit that includes the tube.

That said, when you loosen the nut and begin to remove the plate from the rear frame of the upper, be prepared for the rear detent spring to fly across the room!

The stock now on the rifle is a telescoping stock, on a carbine model.  Do I have to remove the carbine receiver extension tube? Or just the buttstock slide lock pin & lockpin nut?  The Magpul CTR came w/no other parts. Site said it was a drop in for AR15/M16 carbine strocks.

Instead of squeezing the part that normally allows you to adjust the length you pull down on that section and it will pull the adjustment pin farther down & allow it to clear the stop at the rear of the buffer tube.

Thanks-that worked. (That was too easy-but I'm Polish)
