Ever since I installed a Bennie Cooley comp on my RRA ar15 it will occasionally bumpfire when I try to do a double tap. It did not do this before the comp was installed. If I shoot slow fire it does not do it. It's a stock single stage trigger at around 5 pounds of pull.. It's been looked at by two gunsmiths and both say the trigger is fine. Please Help |

Since it is you bumping the rifle, then either we need to fix you or adjust the rifle. Now since I don't do physical therapy work over the net, it will need to be the rifle. To help the rifle help you, we will need to reset the disco for a later release. This disco retiming is done by retiming the disco to have a free gap 0f .002-.001 between its sear edge and secondary hammer sear edge. With just the lower receiver in hand, with the trigger untouched, lower the hammer down until the disco sear is as close to the hammers rear sear as possible. Note the gap between the two, and then pull the disconnector. The release gap (the one you noted) is determined by the front/bottom edge of the disco sitting on top of the front of the trigger. By removing metal from the front bottom of the disco where it sits/ is limited by the trigger, you retard the disco in releasing the hammer. Note: as you remove metal from the front/bottom of the disco, maintain the same angle, and work slow with a few dry fitting to check what you have closed the gap. And if you where wondering, with the FCG reset father back than the trigger just shy of at rest, when you fire the rifle with the brake, the rifle starts to recoil, and then the brake thrusts the rifle forward with you pull the trigger again. When you reset the disco to release later, the same rifle action is going to happen, but since you will not be fully releasing the trigger to the at rest postion, the FCG is not going to reset for your trigger finger happy dance. |
