While cleaning my new AR (armalite m15a4) when i push my cleaning rod down the barrel i sometimes feel a very slight bump right near where the gas block is located. could this bump be the gas port? any other ideas? thank you.

it's probably the gas port, sometimes they're rough, sometimes crap builds up behind them. could be the taper pins being set too far into the barrel but that's rare except on some makes
