I recently purchased a Colt Match Target Lightweight ,it had a 16 inch upper on it .I purchased a 20 inch hbar upper, and installed it. My problem is that when i fire it the spring and buffer in the stock goes twaaannnnng and is loud and anoying. How can i remedy this and quiet this thing down.

Totally easy fix, and I do it to every one of my AR's (and that's a lot).  Go get some plain old grease from the auto parts store and glob it on the recoil spring, use common sense, it works and you will not hear a peep from the spring again.  After thousands of rounds it is not dirty, and has not caused ANY problems.  I had one build where it did cause occasional short-stroking, but I way over-did it and the gas port was a tad small.   Just a glob about the size of your thumb will do it.  Rub it all over the spring on the outside, of course it will glob into the inside too, but don't worry about it, the grease will go where it needs to go.   Some people say that's crazy, but my rifles don't go ssppprrrrroooooiiiiiinnnnggggg!!! when I shoot,  All I hear is "Boom-klank".  Try it, if you don't like it, just clean out the grease and your back where you started.

Have you pulled the buffer and spring and lube them and the inside of the receiver extension with a light coat of CLP as per every cleaning manual ever Printed or Posted clearly indicates during cleaning/maintaining the weapon?

If you skipped over this during the initial cleaning before firing the weapon, here is a cleaning manual that may be more suitable for you.

Welcome to AFRCOM!

Lube the spring it if it bothers you, but you gotta know that the Sproiiinnnnng noise is an endearing characteristic of the Evil Black Rifle for many of the members here.

+1 The sprong means your rifle is working.

If you use the grease, don't go overboard or it will squirt out of the drain hole in the upper stock screw and spooge your shirt.
