I bought a Bushmaster patrolman model upper when the ban went out.  Also got  a collapsable stock.
I put the stock on a lower and attached the upper.
I shoot mainly reloaded ammo in this gun.
After about three mags one day the thing doubled.  Shot it some more and it didn't double again.  A week or so later shot some mags through it and it doubled again.
I figured I was having a trigger problem.  Changed out all the trigger parts.  Well ..........it did the doubling trick again after a couple three mags after the new trigger stuff was installed.
I am thinking it's the collapsable buttstock now.  It has an extremely strong spring. Noticably stronger than on any other of my ar's.
I'm not thinking ammo yet as I shoot the same stuff through three other rifles  with no trouble.
Anybody else had this problem?
Any ideas on what else to look for?
Thanks,
Kelly

Changed out all the trigger parts.

Was the disconnector included in this?

Don't understand your term FCG.

The timing of the disconnector has to be properly set. Doubling has nothing to do with the recoil spring. Charles the Gunsmith.

Try this:

ENSURE the rifle is unloaded.  Check it.  Check it again.

Pull the charging handle to cock the hammer.

Rifle on "fire", pull the trigger and keep it pulled to the rear (this will drop the hammer).

Pull the charging handle (cycle the bolt carrier as if it was actually fired)

SLOWLY release pressure on the trigger.   You should hear and feel and solid "click" as the trigger resets.

The hammer should not fall!!

Do this 5 times.  If the hammer falls when you are slowly releasing the trigger then you have an issue with your FCG.

To add Boog's post,
Hold the trigger back, charge the weapon, (and with a third hand that you grow out of your butt), lock the bolt back on the bolt catch. Now While still holding the trigger back, hit the bolt release and let the carrier slam home.  Now release the trigger, and pull it.  The disco should have retained the hammer during the carrier impact and on the pull after the release, the hammer should fall.
Do this 5 times too.

Almost forgot, if it passes Boog's test (and my added comments), then you need to pull the FCG and dig out the blown primer pieces wedged under the trigger left by you reloads losing a primer.

I did all the resetting of the trigger tricks both of you suggested.l The bottom of the lower reciever is cleaner than a baby's butt.  No extraneous junk and primers, or pieces thereof, so I'm now thinking it is an ammo problem.
Bein as I exclusively shot reloads in my AR's I gotta get some factory ammo of some kind and see what happens.
Funny this condition has only happened with the m4gery, not the parts gun, the SP1, or the Bushmaster DCM rifle.
Mysterious, very mysterious.

Primer selection, and are you sure you are seating the primers below the rim face on your reloads?

Could be as simple as the M-4 having a faster cycle reset, componded by a thiner cup primer sticking out past the face, and you're getting slam fires from the floating pin as the bolt slams home.

I got a case of wolf 55 grn ammo.  Have shot enough of it to think that the handloads had an occassional high primer, or soft primer, and was causing the doubles.  The wolf has been shot in the same manner, and a little more without malfunction.
It doesn't shoot as well as the reloades stuff but I only shoot it for blasting basically anyway so it doesn't really matter.
