I just built my first AR-15 and am having trouble that I'm hoping someone here can help me with. After firing the first shot, the next round is being chambered but the hammer is not being cocked back.  If I pull the charging handle it ejects the unspent round, chambers a new round and cocks the hammer.

I've swapped out uppers and still have the same problem so I know it's in the lower. I really think it's in the trigger assembly. I didn't have time to take it out and inspect it (will do that tonight).

After searching these forums I found one post where someone had a similar problem and he had his trigger spring upside-down. I don't think that's my problem but I'll look at that tonight.

Any other ideas?

Just a guess (without seeing the lower) check the disconnector, disconnector spring, & trigger spring (more than likely its in the disconnector).

It was the disconnector spring. I put that back in place and it shoots great now. Thanks
