During cleaning I have noticed some shiny areas around the gas tube on the upper.
This is more than some finish coming off, it has some deep scratches. The upper has
about 200rd's through it. Is this normal wear or is something out of spec? I have some
pic's, but I don't know how to post them. help

you need to host the pics online then link the url to the pics using the Image button on the posting window control panel.

the wear to the rear of the cam pin recess is normal to some degree, the other wear may be caused by a rough carrier key, hard to tell from that angle

Thanks alot Tweak, is this something I should worry about or just continue shooting it?

you can continue to shoot it, the roughness will probably wear in. it's not correct and looks like crap but that's the way it goes.

My Armalite did the samething.Cam pin rounded the corner off the recess. The nick at the front and rear of the bottom of the cam pin recess from the bolt carrier bearing surface is there also.Finish wore thin the full length of the upper from the cam pin.
The carrier key also peened a spot in the rear of the receiver from locking open on a empty mag.
The wear stopped after about 500 rounds.Or should I say it has not increased.Armalite says its normal.Looks terrible to me though.
I just keep it lubed up good and shoot the crap out of it.
