Looking for some answers... (story) Sometime back I purchased a Colt MT6400C. Shortly after purchase, I sent the upper to a gunsmith to have the pin-on muzzle brake removed, the barrel threaded and a different muzzle device attached. Recently I purchased a Phantom FH to replace the other muzzle device. (end story) (problem) When I removed the muzzle device the threads were badly cross-threaded. Yes it was difficult to remove. I would like to purchase a die and clean it up. What size do I need? Also, ever since I had the aforementioned work done, I've been less than impressed with the accuracy. Is it possible that the noted cross-threading has contributed or possibly ruined the barrel? (end problem) I welcome all helpful suggestions and other opnions. |

If you are working with a 16 inch barrel, why not just pay(a different 'smith!) to cut away the bad threads, rethread, and silver solder a new muzzle device in place for legality. Should be a little cheaper than a new barrel. Where in Texas are you? My local guy charged me $60 to shorten and thread a postban barrel, and he did a fantastic job recrowning the muzzle. Paladin |

)and I screwed up the threads when I took it off. Well then, it's definitely time for a new barrel and when I get it swapped out I'll put the old one up on the EE.
