Brought a new build to the range today, basic 16 inch upper with new RRA parts. Fired one round from a twenty round magazine and the empty case stayed in the chamber. Like a boy scout I popped it out with my cleaning rod and the spent round had the rim torn off from the ejector. I fired about five rounds like this and the same story every time. The ammo was standard 55 grain winchester, I switched to a thirty round mag with green follower and no more problems, the rounds popped out and landed in the same place every time. No signifiacnt marks on the case rim. I have never experienced a problem like this before, will a bad magazine cause failure to eject.

since the case stayed in the chamber you experienced a failure to extract.

did you clean the rifle before you testfired it?
