| My Armalite M15 feeds Federal 5.56 ammunition with no problems. I bought some Wolf 55gr. ammo and it will FTF on almost every shot. I switch back to the Federal, and problem goes away. Besides not shooting Wolf again, does anyone have any suggestions? The rifle is new and has only 500 rounds through it. |

Armalite uses tight chambers to enhance accuracy out of their barrels (tighter than mil-spec). Due to this, ammo that is coated (poly) will not cycle correctly in their factory rifles/chambers. If you go to their site, they specify not to use steel coated ammo in their rifles. |

My guess is that either a) your rifle needs to be broken in, b) you are leaking too much gas somewhere, and/or c) something is applying too much friction to the bolt carrier or cartridge casing (tight/rough chamber). Wolf is pretty weak ammo compared to milspec stuff and even other commercial brands of ammo. As a result, short recoil issues will arise in marginally functioning rifles. If the rifle is working properly, you should be able to shoot Wolf without any problems as long as it is cleaned periodically. Unfortunately, short recoil is one of the hardest things to diagnose and fix since there are so many factors that can cause it. |
